For Ty Fischer, a photo shoot is more than just taking pictures for a client to frame on a wall. It’s capturing a moment in time. The shots that Ty takes aren’t about making sure that a hand is placed just so on someone’s shoulder, but the light in their eyes. The love that they feel. This is helped by using the best lighting, cameras and lenses, but more importantly by making the subjects feel comfortable and happy. Ty and his wife Shannon work as a team to create an atmosphere that tells the story of you. 80% of their work is done on location. They take the time to get to know you and find out what your perfect photo will entail using settings such as warehouses, playgrounds, fields and waterfalls, always open to your ideas an opinions of where you would like it to be. If a location is not what you need, they have recently built a small studio that is perfect for single portraits, small children and privacy for more intimate shots.
During the shoot, you can expect a fun and relaxed time. No serious poses where everyone holds there breath while saying “cheese!”. Subjects talk to each other, laugh and, believe it or not, have a good time. It is possible to walk away from a photo shoot feeling as though you’ve had a fun day rather than wondering if your eyes were open, hair was out of place or everyone had a perfect smile plastered on their face. You know when the shoot is done that you will have beautiful, professional photos showing your your true self. Thanks to Shannon, always behind the scenes being her silly self, teasing Ty, blowing bubbles for children or whatever it takes to relax you and guide you through the shoot, the shots that come through are beautiful, dynamic, emotional and memorable.
Throughout the process leading up to the shoot and during, Ty and Shannon become your friends. This is a very personal experience and they truly want to know who you are and about your life and relationships before a camera is even brought out. For Ty, photography isn’t a job, it’s creating a piece of art. Fischink’s photos have been known to be slightly addictive. Once you see the beautiful outcome of these photos, you can’t help but want to do it again. Chain studios become a thing of the past once you know that you and your family can be so beautiful being the subjects of art and having a moment of time hung on your wall.
